Before you start renovation, take time to understand what you are about to demolish, modify or paint.

Is your home a historical resource? Are the finishes in your home original? Can they be restored, versus removed or painted? A little bit of research or consulting your local expert will go a long way to helping you to make an informed choice.

Fence before redesign

The original fence.

This recent paint project of a redwood fence in San Francisco’s Ashbury Heights neighborhood covered up California’s gold … clear heart, kiln-dried redwood. The $200 of paint is covering more than $5,000 of glowing redwood.

Fence after

The redwood fence painted 3 years after Centoni’s design.

What do you think about this? Is the fence better before, after Centoni’s design (top picture), or after the redwood was painted over? Share your comments below.
