Inviting Victorian Kitchen
This delightful late 1800’s Victorian home was most likely built as a single-family unit, but had been converted into two units at some point in its long history, resulting in a quirky floorplan. Despite numerous modifications over the years, the building lacked the benefits of a professional renovation.
The homeowners desired an updated kitchen that could handle their love for cooking, but also wanted to restore the lovely Victorian accents of the original building and elevate the home’s overall ambiance. The outdated kitchen was reimagined and redesigned for efficiency and aesthetics, using state-of-the-art materials, hardware, and appliances selected to be sympathetic to a Victorian-period home. Quartzite countertops give the elegant look of marble while keeping the surfaces easy to clean, and extending the material into the backsplash and around the oven hood creates a clean look that is a snap to maintain. High-end details such as cabinet pulls from Rejuvenation Hardware and refined faucets from Perrin & Rowe keep the historic look while providing modern durability and conveniences.
A rear extension that had previously been used for laundry was converted to an inviting eating area overlooking the garden, complete with a bespoke table crafted to fit the space. Moving the washer and dryer to a lower floor and installing a handsome built-in bar provided ample storage and a convenient spot to grab a drink without disturbing the cook. These thoughtful changes now make the home an ideal spot for entertaining.
“Gina and her team did an amazing job on my 1890's Victorian. The project required an incredible amount of craftsmanship and attention to detail to keep this Victorian looking original. This was the best experience I have hadwith a contractor to date.”
